As Director of Social Impact, Mónica Varela is in charge of maximizing the positive impact of our work on the life of our beneficiaries. She is responsible of assessing holistic solutions to improving beneficiary impact, identifying opportunities for funding partnerships with governments, private companies, bilateral and multilateral agencies to expand the reach of our social enterprises, direct the impact accountability related to social objectives and track individual beneficiary impact. Likewise, Mónica works along with governments to identify priorities that could lead to market driven solutions and replication of our business models.
Mónica has extensive experience in economic and social development. For the past 12 years, she has been working in structuring and implementing development programs mainly related to capacity building for small producers, market linkages, and inclusive businesses. She has worked with USAID, the IDB and private companies in Colombia. Her academic background includes a Law Degree from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia and a Masters Degree in Latin American Studies from the London School of Economics.
