As Director of Impact, Metrics and Evaluation, Mónica Varela is in charge of supervising the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the overall social impact performance, ensuring that Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) efforts are in line with global standards such as IRIS (Impact Reporting and Investment Standards) and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). She is also responsible for identifying opportunities for funding partnerships with governments, private companies, bilateral and multilateral agencies to expand the reach of our social enterprises.
Mónica has extensive experience in economic and social development. For the past 15 years, she has been working in structuring and implementing development programs mainly related to capacity building for small producers, market linkages, and inclusive businesses. She has worked with USAID, the IDB and private companies in Colombia. Her academic background includes a Law Degree from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia and a Masters Degree in Latin American Studies from the London School of Economics.
