Acceso Boyacá S.A.S (Acceso Boyacá) is a supply chain enterprise which was created to remove barriers, typically faced by smallholder farmers and link them to new quality markets. Acceso Boyacá provides skills training in agriculture best practices, as well as inputs such as seeds and fertilizers. As a result, the yields and quality of the farmer’s produce increase significantly. Acceso Boyacá also purchases the farmer’s fruits and vegetables at a competitive-market price and consolidates, delivers, and sells their produce to new domestic buyers such as Exito and Makro. Thereby, eliminating the many intermediaries or “coyotes” known to take advantage of smallholder farmers, paying them below market prices for their produce.
In 2015, Acceso Boyacá will train over 100 farmers and positively impact the livelihoods of 440+ individuals. Over the next 5 years, the enterprise will train nearly 1,000 farmers and scale and impact 4,000+ individuals. Acceso Boyacá aims to more than double farmer income by 2020.
